Carl & Maya Gilles Carl was called to missions while studying for the ministry in Canada. Being from Haiti, he went to Bethany Bible College (now Kingswood University) with intentions of returning to Haiti immediately after his studies. However, his burden for the unreached French people led him to pastor at Moncton Wesleyan for four years. In 2005, Maya visited a Haitian orphanage where she sensed the confirmation of her call to missions in Haiti. A year later, by God’s providence, she married Carl whose desire was to return to his country. In May 2007, Carl and Maya were appointed to career missionary service in Haiti. Carl’s vision is to equip Christian believers to be effective in both their general and specific callings, so that they can impact their families, communities, country, and the world for Jesus Christ. Maya’s desire is for evangelism and discipleship to children, youth, and women. It is her passion to give them the tools to develop their full potential and to pursue their dreams and callings with the Lord’s guidance. Carl and Maya have four children: Théa, Zahra, Selah and Aaliah. “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4 NIV). |

Dan and Joy Irvine In 1981 Dan and Joy (Alexander) Irvine began their missionary work in Haiti. Dan was a church planter and director of education while Joy supervised schooling for American missionary children. Following their time in Haiti, they lived in Florida for 10 years where Dan was involved in various ministries. In 1995 God called them back to their home state of Pennsylvania where they then served on staff at Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church. When they left Haiti in 1987, they knew in their hearts that God would again, someday, open a door of service to Haiti. As a result of God’s call on their lives, Dan and Joy have been appointed to serve as career missionary with Global Partners. Their mission in Haiti is to serve the expatriate missionaries, to stand alongside the national church leadership, and to develop resources. They desire to be a communication bridge between The Wesleyan Church of Haiti and The Wesleyan Church of North America. The Irvines have five children and two amazing grandchildren. Brooke, their youngest, is living in the South Carolina after graduating from Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, 2011. Becca will graduate from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2013. Elizabeth, Matthew & Heather have added three incredible spouses to the family. “. . . if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him. Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did” (1 John 2:5-6 NIV).

Jesse and Selinda VanHorn God has given both Jesse and Selinda a heart for the people of Africa, and the longer they minister in Africa, the more God confirms His call upon their lives to serve Him there. Jesse served with Global Partners for two years in Zambia as a GO-Net missionary. Selinda (Ingalls) first served with Global Partners for two years in Swaziland before serving in Zambia. Now together, Global Partners has appointed Jesse and Selinda as long-term missionaries to Zambia, Africa. It is their passion to see the African Church strengthened and encouraged. They desire to help further God’s work by providing support where there is a need. They desire to be used by God to help the people in Africa—to help ease some of their suffering and to show them Jesus. They firmly believe the Lord would have them reach out to people by learning their culture/language, to meet them where they live, to influence them for Christ, and to teach them to do the same for others. “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God” (Acts 20:24 NLT).
